What are we doing?
If you’re reading this guide then you’re probably wanting to start investing in a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin and you need a way to change your fiat money(real world money such as USD, GBP, EUR) into your chosen Cryptocurrency. This guide aims to give you a step by step guide with images allowing you to create your account and link your debit/credit card to Coinbase.
Items you will need before starting.
Coinbase requires you to provide some form of identification such as a passport, drivers license or photo ID so you must have one of these, preferably 2 of these to allow you to have a higher trading limit. The second thing you will need is an email address. Coinbase will send an email to this address to verify that you own it so it must be accessible to you during the sign-up process. The third thing you will need is a phone number. The phone number will be used as an extra layer of security to make the account more secure. Whit all these ready you’re free to start the signup process.
Step 1 – Get to Coinbase.
Head over to the Coinbase website https://www.coinbase.com/ or if you want to support me use my referral link here https://www.coinbase.com/join/5a451c159d4f3e02fd1758e9 . Check the website is legitimate by comparing the address to https://www.coinbase.com/ and that there is a lock icon next to the address as shown in the image below.
Step 2 – Sign me up Scotty.
Enter your email address into the box and click the Get Started Button.
Step 3 – Tell them about yourself.
Enter your details in the boxes provided, then read and accept the User Agreement and Privacy Policy and finally click the Create Account button.
Step 4 – Confirm your email.
You will then have to wait until you receive an email with a link that you have to click to verify your email.
Step 5 – Location and Phone.
Enter your location and phone number. This will allow Coinbase to send you a verification code each time you remove or transfer funds as an extra layer of security.
Step 6 – Verification.
You are now registered and can verify your identity by clicking the Settings button and then clicking the limits button shown below:
Now click the Form of Identification you want to submit as proof.
You will then have to submit the Documents by one of the methods shown in the next step.
Step 7 – Adding A Payment Method.
In order to add some funds into your account, you will need to set up a payment method. This can be a bank account, debit card or credit card. Click the Buy/Sell button at the top. For this guide, I will show the method for adding a Debit/Credit Card.
Select the box labeled Payment Method and then Add a New Account.
Select the Credit/Debit Card option
Enter your name and address that is registered with the card you are using.
Enter the Card details and then click Add Card to complete the process.
All Done
Congratulations, you are now registered on Coinbase and are able to purchase cryptocurrencies on coinbase. At the time of writing that includes Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash.
